George Read
It all started back in 2010 when I was lucky enough to get a job as a cellar hand in Marlborough, New Zealand. I got first hand experience of making wine while working with other cellar hands from around the world. Wine, travel and like minded people became quite addictive and this led to a further 4 vintages in England, France and Chile. It was in Casablanca, Chile that I met my future wife Javiera. Bruton born and bred, it was in 2020 that I finally had the opportunity and felt ready to open "The Cellarhand".

Like George I have had a long term passion and association with wine. I grew up in Santiago, Chile where I studied agronomy specialising in winemaking. In 2011 I travelled to France where I completed a masters degree in agricultural sciences with a focus on wine production. After marrying George in 2015 I moved to Somerset, England where we started a family and planned to open our wine business.
We hope that we can bring our experience and skills in sourcing a wide range of great and interesting wines from numerous regions and countries, along with a select amount of premium spirits, beer and cider.
