This 0.5 hectare plot of vines grows on the clay-limestone plateau of Montbellet. Planted at a density of 8,000 vines per hectare in the late 1970s, Jean-Marie Chaland feels that this 45 year old parcel is just starting to get interesting. The grapes were pressed as soon as they arrived at the cellar, allowed to cold settle before alcoholic fermentation without the addition of yeasts, without chaptalisation and without acidification. The fermentation was controlled to proceed slowly, ensuring that all of the sugars were fermented. 10% is fermented in foudre and the wine is aged on its fine lees for 10 months before bottling at the end of spring.

Rich and aromatic peach fruit on the nose leads onto a palate with more orchard fruit flavours and citrus countered by a nervy minerality and gentle complexity. Fine, silky and properly balanced with a long delicious finish.
